CITY OF HUDSON COMMON COUNCIL

SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES OF THURSDAY, AUGUST 23, 2007

Meeting called to order by Mayor Jack Breault in the Council Chambers of City Hall at 7:30 a.m.

PRESENT: Mayor Breault, Alderpersons Randy Morrissette, Dennis O’Connell, Lee Wyland, Scot O’Malley and Allan Burchill.

ABSENT: Alderperson Paul Radermacher.

OTHERS PRESENT: Catherine Munkittrick, Devin Willi, and Andy Smith.

Convene into Closed Session pursuant to §19.85 (1)(c), Wis. Stats. to conSIDER RESIGNATION AND SEPARATION PAY REQUEST OF CHIEF OF POLICE: MOTION by Wyland, second by O’Malley, to convene into Closed Session pursuant to §19.85 (1) (c), Wis. Stats., to consider the resignation and separation pay request of the Chief of Police. All Ayes (5), MOTION CARRIED – 7:31 a.m.

RECONVENE IN OPEN SESSION FOR POSSIBLE ACTION RE: RESIGNATION AND SEPARATION PAY REQUEST OF CHIEF OF POLICE: MOTION by O’Malley second by Wyland, to reconvene into Open Session. All Ayes (5), MOTION CARRIED. Reconvened in Open Session at 7:42 a.m.

MOTION by O’Malley, second by O’Connell, to accept the resignation of Police Chief Andy Smith. All ayes (5), MOTION CARRIED.

MOTION by Burchill, second by O’Malley, to approve the payment for 60 hours of vacation time to Andy Smith. All ayes (5), MOTION CARRIED. It was agreed that his last day of employment would be Friday, August 24, 2007. Discussion was also held regarding the date of the resignation and if the 30-day notice requirement was necessary. The option of hiring Mr. Smith as a consultant was left open.

MOTION by Morrissette, second by O’Connell, to adjourn the meeting. MOTION CARRIED all ayes (5). Meeting adjourned at 7:45 a.m.
