City Hall regular office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The building is at 505 Third Street, at the corner of Third and Walnut Street.

On October 24, 2011 the telephones in City Hall and other City Departments were switched to an automated telephone system. Please dial the appropriate Department telephone number and then use the specific Extension number of the employee. Most extension numbers are listed after the employee names under the heading "City Staff and Departments" on the main page.

          The tax bills will be mailed out on December 15, 2011. The City of Hudson has contracted with St. Croix County to collect 2011 REAL ESTATE TAXES, SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS AND CHARGES, and PERSONAL PROPERTY TAXES for the City of Hudson due on Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Second half payments are due by Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at the County Treasurer's office.   Several payment options are available, as follows:

 US Mail – Addressed to the St. Croix County Treasurer at 1101 Carmichael Road, Hudson, WI 54016.  Envelopes must be postmarked on or before January 31, 2012.  Second half payments must be postmarked by July 31, 2012. Checks should be made payable to "St. Croix County Treasurer."   Include a self-addressed, stamped envelope if you want a receipt.

In Person -  Pay by check or cash Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the County Treasurer's office, 1101 Carmichael Road, or deposit in the night deposit box on the outside of the building. 

E-check (ACH Debit) – Internet at www.co.saint-croix.wi.us   Click on “Pay Taxes Online”.  There will be a $3.00 charge per parcel.

Credit Card - Internet at www.co.saint-croix.wi.us   Click on “Pay Taxes Online”.   There will be a service charge of 2.35%.

DOG AND CAT LICENSES need to be paid directly to the City of Hudson at City Hall, 505 Third Street, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Call 715-386-4765, Ext. 122 for more information.

The City of Hudson Room Tax Grant Board will be accepting applications for Room Tax grants that will be available for distribution in 2012. Applications are due by Friday, February 17, 2012. See the application form, below.

The City of Hudson has entered into an Agreement with River Valley Deer Management for a Deer Control Program within the City. Residents are reminded that they cannot discharge a firearm or fire or shoot bows within the City EXCCEPT if they have written approval by the Common Council, as part of this Deer Control Program. See the copy of Ordinance No. 5-10, below.

Please note that the City of Hudson has received an Urban Forestry Grant to complete a full inventory of all City-owned trees. Representatives from Bluestem Forestry Consulting will be working throughout the City and may be photographing trees in the boulevards, parks and other areas. St. Croix County has issued a notice regarding property and mortgage fraud. A free service can be used to alert property owners in St. Croix County. To register, see the complete notice, below, or call Beth Pabst, St. Croix County Register of Deeds at 715-386-4650.

In 2010, the City of Hudson adopted an ordinance regarding snowplowing procedures. For snowfalls of two inches or more, there will be no parking until the streets are plowed curb to curb. Pursuant to Municipal Code, exemption stickers can be issued, in some instances. See the exemption form, below. Also below is an appeal form to be used for exemptions that have been denied. In October of 2011, the City of Hudson adopted ordinances regarding parking, under Chapter 235 of Municipal Code. View Ordinance No. 17-11 and No. 18-11, below. For additional clarification, Ordinance No. 23-11 was also adopted on December 19, 2011, and is included below. The City of Hudson has entered into another 5-year contract with Veolia Waste Services (866) 983-6542)for garbage collection and recycling services. Veolia will pick up yard waste at a cost of $1.00 per bio-degradable bag; special bag stickers are for sale at the Third floor of City Hall, or at the Family Fresh Market and the County Market grocery stores. Residents can also subscribe to an optional yard waste program. See that notice, below.

Large recycling containers have been delivered to each home; a notice and flyer about recycling dates has also been mailed out. The City of Hudson is considered "B Week" on the recycling calendar. See the calendar, below. Do not place the recycling containers out during the weeks that appear in green on the calendar; the green weeks are considered "A Week." The city of Hudson is "B Week."

Residents may keep the smaller, 18-gallon green containers previously used for recycling. If the containers are not wanted, they may be returned to the City -- please drop them off in the City Hall parking lot, 505 Third Street. A sign will be posted next to the dumpsters. More information about recycling and pickup dates has been mailed out. Please do not place any garbage cans or recycling containers in the streets. Thank you for your cooperation.

2011 LOTTERY AND GAMING CREDIT INFORMATION

A Lottery and Gaming Credit is available each year as a credit on property tax bills. There are currently more than 600 parcels in the City of Hudson where the owners did not meet the January 31st deadline to apply for the credit. Late claim applications can still be filed. See the complete notice, below.

Chapter 99-5 of Hudson Municipal Code prohibits animals from running at large within the City; it also requires the owners to remove and dispose of animal waste. Dog and cat licenses are required; scroll down for the licensing information. Sections A, B, and C of Chapter 99-5 are as follows:

A. Running at large. No cat, dog or other domesticated animal shall be permitted to run at large within the City of Hudson. An animal is considered to be running at large if it is not on the premises of its owner and not under control of the owner or some other person.

B. No dog shall be permitted in a public cemetery, playground, schoolyard, public pool or other posted areas, except when confined within a vehicle or on a leash or except with the written permission of the person in charge.

C. The owner of an animal shall promptly remove and dispose in a sanitary manner any excreta deposited by such animal upon any public or private property. Seeing-eye dogs used by blind persons or dogs used in police activities are exempted when used by or with the permission of the City.

Animals that have been found by the Animal Warden are listed on the following impound notices. If your pet is missing, check the lists for possible information. The notices are also posted in the lobby of City Hall.

All animals are prohibited from running at large within the City. Licensing of DOGS and CATS is required. Licenses are available at City Hall in the Clerk/Treasurer's office. At a special meeting held on January 31, 2011 the Common Council adopted an ordinance that repeals and recreates changes to Municipal Code, Chapter 202 - Signs. View the notice, below. The recreated Chapter 202 (26 pages) is also listed below.

City of Hudson 2012 budget documents are available in the Clerk's office for review. The budget ordinance will be considered for adoption on Monday, November 21, 2011.

The City of Hudson Police Department has moved from their former location in the lower level of City Hall (221 Walnut Street) to the First Street Building, 101 Vine Street. This building is also occupied by the Public Library. Please use the public parking lot on Vine Street right behind the building. The entrance door is on the east side of the building, facing the parking lot.

The Hudson Area Joint Library is now located at 700 First Street. Please use the public parking lot on Vine Street right behind the building, or the Bath House parking lot on First Street. Other parking spaces with meters are not enforced on weekends. The handicapped access door is on the east side of the building, facing the parking lot.

The Library offers residents of the Hudson area a variety of books, magazines, newspapers, videos, DVDs, recorded books, children's storytime, book club, other programming, and a "Friends of the Library" group. Additional materials are easily available through the MORE online catalog (www.more.lib.wi.us) which allows you to search for, reserve and renew library items from any computer connected to the Internet. The City of Hudson is now using new utility bills to replace the postcards formerly used. The quarterly water/sewer statements are printed on a full-size 8½ by 11 inch sheet of paper, with information on both sides. A regular number 10 envelope is used, with bright blue lettering indicating "UTILITY BILL ENCLOSED." The new format provides more security and confidentiality, plus space for more information.

City of Hudson Parking Permits are available for use in certain sections of public parking lots. The parking spaces in the center portions of the City parking lots and other specific areas are designated for vehicles with City Parking Permits from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. Please be aware of the signage in the lots and at the meters; a $10.00 fine will be imposed for violations. All direct sellers, transient merchants, or solicitors must register with the City Clerk prior to selling items within the City of Hudson. No sales or solicitations are allowed on public streets or in public parking lots. The City of Hudson Police and Fire Commission, at their meeting held on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, adopted the Police and Fire Commission Disciplinary Complaint Policy and Procedure, and a PFC Complaint Form. These documents will be used for handling disciplinary complaints against any Hudson police officer or fire fighter.

No person shall park a vehicle for a longer period than 24 consecutive hours on any public street of the city. The Public Works Department or the Police Department may remove any vehicle which may interfere with the operation of any snow removal equipment or any emergency venicle. The cost of removing such vehicle will be charged to the owner or the operator thereof. The vehicle may be removed by City employees or may be contracted or farmed out. The removed vehicle shall be stored at a place to be determined by the City and the owner shall pay the usual storage charge and towing charge before the vehicle is released.
